Our biggest challenging was focusing and simplifying our design. In the beginning, our team wanted to include as much functionality within our solution as possible. We came to realize that it’s necessary to keep things simple, especially in a situation where people are put in a position to react instinctively due to fear.

 

Due to the limited time frame for this project, our user research was limited to only a few participants. By interviewing more people in our target population, we could have extended our understanding of user behavior, habits, and experiences.  Moving forward, the team would also hope to focus more on the data collection within the app, both with user-generated data like alerts and the feasibility of accessing other data on crime and light.
